Summary

The data analyzed below in this report are relevant for January 1 – March 31, 2023.

In this analysis, we were interested in discovering the most viral Romanian Facebook content related to a number of state actors and international organizations relevant for Romania: the EU, NATO, the US, Germany, France, the UK, Israel, Russia, China, Ukraine.

Our Center extracted data using CrowdTangle, a public insights tool owned and operated by Facebook.

Here are some of the findings:

  • The volume of mentions related to the EU, NATO, the US, Russia and Ukraine decreased compared to the previous analyzed period, as did the level of interactions generated by these mentions.
  • The 3rd most commented post referencing the EU (almost 5k comments) is part of a campaign advocating for Romania’s exit from the EU, which also promotes the website roexit.ro.
