Summary

  • Discussions regarding a potential peace in Ukraine and the echoes of the tense meeting at the White House between U.S. President Donald Trump and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky generated mentions for most of the international actors included in the analysis. The new policies of the U.S. administration (in fiscal matters, security and defense, foreign relations, etc.), various internal political developments (France, Israel), sports (Germany, France, Israel), and topics relevant to Romania (Visa Waiver program, diplomatic tensions with Russia) also played a role.
  • The ranking of mentions is led by the United States, followed by Ukraine, and – at a distance – by Russia and the EU. Compared to the previous month, the top of the hierarchy remains unchanged. Moreover, most of the actors included in the analysis recorded increases in mentions (U.S., United Kingdom, France). This also applies to Russia and the EU, although their increases were not significant. However, there were also decreases in mentions for actors such as Ukraine, NATO, Israel, and especially Germany. China stands out as well, with a volume of mentions similar to the previous month.
  • The U.S. also maintains its position at the top in terms of views (estimated impact of mentions), followed by Ukraine and Russia. The EU ranks fourth, completing a hierarchy that remains unchanged from the previous month. The vast majority of actors analyzed saw increases in views. Exceptions include NATO, with a slight decrease in estimated impact, Germany – with a notable decline in this indicator – and Israel.
  • Most of the monitored actors were mentioned primarily in online press sources. There were no majority mentions on Facebook, but some cases showed a balance between the two sources in terms of volume, such as the EU, NATO, and China.
  • Local sources did not contribute significantly to the number of mentions for any of the actors included in the analysis. However, Germany stands out with nearly 21% of mentions in local sources, followed by the EU with 18%, and NATO with almost 17%.
