Summary
- The war in Ukraine – and its related implications, such as the discussions on peace, the military support provided to Kyiv by Western states, and the EU’s plans and actions aimed at strengthening its defense capabilities – continues to be the main topic generating mentions and visibility for the vast majority of the monitored international actors.
- In addition to this, developments in the Middle East, marked by the agreement between Israel and Hamas, the U.S. decision to withdraw part of its troops from Romania, the geopolitical and trade relations between the U.S. and China, as well as various domestic political developments (such as the political crisis in France), also played a significant role in October.
- The United States returned to the top of the mentions ranking, standing out clearly from the other international actors. It is followed by the European Union and Ukraine. Compared to September, the trends are balanced, with half of the actors included in the analysis registering increases in mentions (the U.S., EU, Ukraine, Germany, Israel), while the other half are on a downward trend. In the latter case, France stands out, as its decrease is marginal, indicating rather a stagnation.
- The United States remains first in the ranking of views (estimated impact of mentions), followed by Ukraine and Russia, with very close scores. The EU remains in fourth position. Compared to the previous month, most of the analyzed actors recorded increases in the number of views, except for Russia, NATO, and the United Kingdom, which registered decreases for this indicator.
- Online media continues to be the main source of mentions for all monitored international actors, while the contribution of local sources is more significant in cases such as Germany (almost 24%), NATO (19%), or France (around 18%).
