Summary

  • The developments related to the war in Ukraine, such as the Trump–Putin summit in Alaska and the discussions on peace, or Russia’s attacks on targets in Ukraine, including civilian and diplomatic ones, remain the dominant topic that has generated visibility and mentions for most of the monitored international actors. The situation in the Gaza Strip and Israel’s military operations have also been highly relevant. Other themes contributing to the visibility of the actors covered in the analysis include European defense investments, the geopolitical tensions related to the Taiwan Strait, or the Iranian nuclear file.
  • Ukraine returns to the top position in terms of mentions, for the first time this year. It is followed by the USA, which drops one place compared to the previous month, Russia, which climbs one position, and the EU, which falls two places. Compared to July, the vast majority of the actors included in the analysis record increases in mentions. Exceptions are Germany, which remains relatively stable, and the United Kingdom, with a slight downward correction.
  • The USA ranks first in terms of views (estimated impact of mentions), followed by Ukraine and Russia, which, compared to the previous month, surpass the EU. The Union drops two places and is noticeably behind the top three. Overall, most of the analyzed actors show increases in views. However, there are also notable exceptions, such as the EU, France, and Israel. The UK also shows a decline in the impact of mentions, although in this case, the indicator fluctuation is minor, with only a marginal decrease.
  • Online media remains the main source of mentions for all monitored international actors, generating in some cases (Germany, France, the United Kingdom, Israel) nearly twice as many mentions as Facebook.
  • The contribution of local sources to the total number of mentions is increasing. Notable cases include the EU (almost 24%), Germany (almost 23%), and France (22%).
