Summary

  • The visibility of most of the international actors analysed was generated primarily by topics related to international security, dominated by the war in the Middle East, including the American-Israeli strikes on Iranian targets and the subsequent response from Tehran.
    • The conflict also generated broader geopolitical effects, reflected in tensions between the United States and European allies regarding the management of the crisis, concerns about the security of critical maritime routes, and discussions within the EU on energy security and possible fuel rationing measures.
  • In parallel, developments connected to the war in Ukraine continued to shape the agenda.
  • The visibility was also driven by political developments within the European Union, including divergences among European leaders regarding financial support for Ukraine and controversies related to the diplomatic dialogue between Hungary and Russia.
  • Additional mentions were generated by debates on nuclear deterrence in Europe, particularly discussions concerning the extension of the French nuclear umbrella, as well as by NATO-related developments.
  • Visibility was further supported by economic and geopolitical developments involving China, alongside domestic policy and security-related topics in European states.
  • The United States consolidates its first position in the ranking of mentions, at a considerable distance (more than double) from the next-ranked actors. Compared to the previous month, the EU and Ukraine maintain their second and third positions respectively, without recording significant changes in the volume of mentions. Israel rises sharply to fourth place. Compared to February, most of the actors included in the analysis record an increase in the number of mentions, with significantly higher values for Israel and NATO. Russia represents an exception, showing a decrease in this indicator, while the EU and Ukraine remain relatively stable.
  • The United States also clearly dominates the ranking of views (estimated impact of mentions), followed at a distance by Israel, which records a substantial increase. Ukraine ranks third, followed by Russia and the EU, both experiencing a decline in the ranking but maintaining similar impact levels. Compared to the previous month, most of the analysed actors register increases in views, the most significant growth being recorded in the case of Israel. Russia and the EU are the exceptions, showing a downward trend.
  • Online press is the main source of mentions for all international actors. In most cases, it generates volumes of mentions more than double those recorded on Facebook.
  • The contribution of local sources to the total number of mentions ranges from approximately 14% (China, Russia) to 29% (Germany).
