About the event
The 6th edition of the Bucharest Security Conference (BSC), one of the most important regional conferences on security and defense, organized by SNSPA, is adapting to the specific situation generated by the Covid-19 pandemic and will take place in a hybrid format. Thus, the conference itself, with physical participation, will take place in the spring of 2022. In the preview, on November 19, 2021, an online workshop will be organized (BSC Dialogues), aiming to analyse the new strategic and geopolitical environment in Eastern and Central Europe, under the impact of the COVID 19 pandemic.
The BSC brings together high-level decision-makers, academics, experts and practitioners in international relations and security studies to assess the latest security developments in the Euro-Atlantic area, the dynamics of the international system and how the global power structure evolves under the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic.
The Center for Civic Participation and Democracy (CPD) is part of this approach and will organize, within BSC Dialogues, an online discussion panel dedicated to conspiracies and infodemias – New challenges in times of Covid-19 – Political and Communication Threats in Eastern Europe. Our panelists are:
- Bogdan Teodorescu (SNSPA) – expert in political marketing and communication;
- Andreas Ventsel (University of Tartu, Estonia) – expert in semiotics and online communication;
- Bret Schafer (GMF, USA) – expert in computational propaganda;
- John Capello (Balkan Security Network, Serbia) – expert in military affairs, defense and security analyst;
- Remus Ștefureac (INSCOP Research, Romania) – political scientist, expert in sociological design and data analysis.
The event will be moderated by Dan Sultănescu, research director of CPD @ SNSPA.
