Summary
The data analyzed in this report is relevant for July 1 – September 30, 2022.
In this analysis, we were interested in discovering the most viral Romanian Facebook content related to a number of state actors and international organizations relevant for Romania: the EU, NATO, the US, Germany, France, the UK, Israel, Russia, China, Ukraine.
Our Center extracted data using CrowdTangle, a public insights tool owned and operated by Facebook.
Here are some of the findings:
- The third trimester of 2022 continued the trend registered during the previous 3-month period, of decreasing interest for the Ukraine conflict, materialized in 40% decreases in volumes of posts mentioning both NATO and Ukraine. For all geopolitical actors analyzed, the number of mentions was similar or lower compared to the months before, with two exceptions – China, where a 36% increase was registered, and Israel (10%).
- The energy crisis became an important issue, reflected in the posts mentioning the majority of analyzed actors.
